I am a big lover of oils and using them to moisturize my skin. I enjoy the feeling I get from smoothing a layer of good oils over my skin to replenish the moisture lost during the day. One challenge I face is deciding what oils to use since there are so many options. The list below includes some of my favorite oils for my face and body.

Coconut Oil
I like to refer to coconut oil as a “base” oil. It is great for acting a diluting oil for essential oils (much like grape seed and avocado). Coconut is fast absorbing and penetrates deep into the skins layers, providing a level of UV protection as well. As an added bonus, it has helps to fight fungus and give hair a great shine!
2. Marula Oil
Marula oil is extracted from the kernels of the fruits of the Marula trees, from the Anacardiaceae family. There are two types of marula oil, the oil extracted from the seeds and the oil extracted from the nut's hard shell. This one is also fast absorbing and is rich in fatty acids and mimics those that are naturally occurring in the skin’s outer layer.
3. Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip has been utilized by the ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Native Americans over may years for its healing properties. This oils is full of vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids that are known to correct dark spots and hydrate dry, itchy skin, all while reducing scars and fine lines. This one in particular increases cell turnover because it contains beta-carotene (a form of vitamin A) and vitamins C and E, which are all antioxidants that help fight free radicals.

For many generations, natives of the argan woodlands in Morocco have pressed this nut to extract a precious oil with a number of skin and hair benefits. This oil contains vitamin A, vitamin E, antioxidants, omega-6 fatty acids, linoleic acid which have many benefits, some being a great moisturizer, helping with inflammation, and acne.

If you are like me, you love the sun, but not having any protection against its rays can leave your skin damaged. Sweet almond oil is a great sooting oil for sun damaged skin and hair. It also has a number of health benefits, which include lowering cholesterol, protecting the heart, and boosting the health of your liver and colon. This one is great inside and out.
